With respect to achievement, we look to the Bio4Fuels Days meeting in Helsinki. Its success was in particular the consolidation of the many activities across the centre – showing in particular the potential for integrated biofuels production in Norway. It was also to see the efforts of the Stakeholders towards trying to deploy technology for producing and using future biofuels value chains. We are also able to point to the concrete outputs from Bio4Fuels in terms of education, dissemination and internationalisation.

However, despite the strong commitments of everyone in Bio4Fuels, it is sobering to still face the fact that we have a framework around us that does not appear to be fully aligned with the urgency of the climate mitigation challenges, in particular the aviation and marine transport. This is a task for us all after summer, in particular the management in the final period of the Centre, will be focussing on greater public engagement and visibility of the dilemmas.

As always, the management acknowledges all the efforts of Bio4Fuels partners and in particular the energy and commitment of the young researchers.
