Dear Bio4Fuels members
We are now on the way to our final year of full operation as a Centre, just as the full consequences of Climate changes was outlined in COP28. The importance of mitigation in the transportation sector has been given even more focus by the EU and Norwegian government. As we have mentioned in a couple of newspaper articles β every initiative and technology can help, whether electrification, hydrogen, biofuels or e-fuels.
There have been many achievements in 2023, but our decision to be more pro-active with respect to communication has been a highlight. We are still fulfilling our international commitments by a wide margin, including taking leadership in a number of major EU projects.

The presentation of the SP activities in Bio4Fuels Days highlighted the achievements made so far and also the remaining challenges to be addressed, so it is important that we were able to deliver an application for a new FME Centre SusFuels. We see this as a key instrument for Norway's prioritization of alternative sustainable fuels and, irrespective of the results, we will aim to continue the good work after 2024.
Wishing everyone a Happy Holiday Season
From Bio4Fuels Management Team

Bio4Fuels Days 2023
15-16 November Bio4Fuels Days 2023 was organised at Scandic SjΓΈlyst outside Oslo.β
Universities and research institutions met the industrial partners to discuss the current status of advanced biofuels, what is known so far and what needs to be researched in the future.β
This was the seventh and penultimate time that Bio4Fuels Days was held. Bio4Fuels Days is a meeting place that the participants in the research centre greatly appreciate. During two short days, the partners update each other and plans for the last months of the centre were made.β

This is why we need biofuel
The greenhouse gas cuts will come too late if we have to wait for them until all planes, ships and trains have been replaced. Therefore, biofuel is one of the solutions the world needs - and no "climate bluff", as the authors of an NRK statement would have it. |

Past Webinar
Climate-Friendly Energy in the Norwegian Armed Forces and Norwegian Construction Site Engines
In addition to the main focus areas of aviation and marine sectors, it is important to consider the wider impact of Norway's obligations in the transition to more sustainable transportation. The recent webinar we hosted provided an important and interesting perspective from the Norwegian Armed Forces and vehicles used in Norwegian construction sites. This webinar gives a great overview of the challenges and opportunities for advanced biofuels as part of these sectors meeting their Climate ambitions. |
